HYDRO-1
Color Change Developer
HYDRO-2
Concentrated Leak Tracer

a two-part system for testing for cold water leaks in a humid atmosphere

APPLICATIONS
Testing of large tanks, vessels, complex piping systems, flexible containers and systems that inherently contain or will contain water. It can also detect leaks in valves, fittings and welds. It is formulated to prevent false indications due to high moisture in the air or cold piping that can condense water on its surface.
Hydro-1 is a color change developer sprayed on the outside of a potential leak site. Hydro-2 is a liquid tracer which goes into solution with the test water. Hydro-2 causes a visible color change when it comes in contact with the Hydro-1 developer.

BENEFITS
The method can be used to locate leaks as part of a quality control test or a field inspection procedure.
It is quick and inexpensive, making it the best solution for testing large or complex systems.
It is very sensitive so it can be used in the most demanding applications.
It requires a minimal of pressure differential, making it ideal for many difficult applications.
It is easy to take photos of the test results, making work easy to substantiate.
Can be made highly corrosion resistant with CI25 Corrosion Inhibitor Additive.
Sensitivity can be increased using CIM-200 as an additive to lower surface tension of water.

SPECIFICATIONS
Sensitivity: 1 x 10-3 atm.cm3/s  (1 x 10-4 atm.cm3/s with CIM-200 )
Temperature Range: 2oC to 93oC
Humidity Range: 0 to 90% non-condensing
Oxygen/Vacuum: Does not require oxygen or air to operate
Color change: Orange to purple
Storage Life: 2 years from shipment

METHOD DESCRIPTION
Dilution ratio: 50 gallons water to 1 gallon tracer for immediate use or 25 gallons water to 1 gallon tracer for long dwell time.
1. For best results pour Hydro-2 into tank or vessel to be tested and add water to correct volume.
2. Spray a coating of Hydro-1 Developer on outside of weld, joint or surface where leakage is a concern. Allow to dry at least 15 minutes.
3. Once the activating tracer has been given sufficient soak time to permeate the test piece and enough dwell time is allowed for the tracer
to penetrate to the surface treated with developer, an obvious color change from orange to purple will take place at the point of leakage.
4. To remove, wipe with a damp cloth.

PACKAGING
Hydro-1 is available as a 12 oz aerosol spray can, and gallon cans.
Hydro-2 is available in gallon bottles,  5 gallon pails & 55 gallon drums.
